Ideally, your network would be configured to automatically tag ports via LLDP, OUI lookup, or another method.
In some cases, however, you may find yourself needing to manually configure the VLAN setting on these phones.
Here is how to make this change, on the phones themselves - these steps apply specifically to the VVX model family, but all Polycom phones are similar.
1 - Press the 'Home' key to bring up the menu. Navigate to the 'Settings' icon, it's to the right. You'll see the below on the screen:
2 - Select 'Settings', then 'Advanced':
You can also press the keypad number '2' instead of actually selecting 'Advanced' from the menu (it is faster this way).
You'll be asked for the password at this point. The default is '456'.
3 - Select 'Administration Settings':
4 - Select 'Network Configuration':
5 - Select 'Ethernet Menu':
6 - Select 'VLAN Menu':
7 - Select 'VLAN ID' (this is the setting you need to adjust):
8 - Enter the appropriate VLAN ID here, and press the 'OK' softkey:
9 - You'll see the below (your VLAN ID may of course be different than this example). Press the 'Back' softkey:
10 - Back out of these sub-menus until the phone asks if you'd like to save:
Back:
Back:
11 - Then, select 'Save Config':
12 - The new network settings are applied immediately. The phone should acquire an address, proceed with automated configuration/provisioning steps, and then come online and be ready for use. It will likely reboot one or two times as part of this process.
