Here is a basic 'howto' set up a fresh DD-WRT for remote access.
1) Gain UI access to the router via your web browser. The router is often at an IP such as 192.168.1.1 - that is its' default IP.
2) Click on the 'administration' tab.

3) You'll want to set the router password, if you haven't already. The configuration should appear as below:

4) In the 'Remote Management' section, configure the settings as below.

5) Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click the 'Apply Settings' button. The router may reboot.

6) Connect the router to your WAN uplink, and provide us the public IP address that it acquires (this will display in the top-right hand corner of any DD-WRT administrative window as the 'WAN IP'.
We'll also need the username and password to gain access to the router, if you are giving us access.
